A super and over-sized deep royal or cobalt blue art glass dish, ashtray or glass slab designed by Erik Hoglund from the 1960s or so. Made for Boda, Sweden (later became Kosta Boda). Undoubtedly made alongside his smaller ashtray series which had different internal motifs. This is hand signed - H873/908 (H for Hoglund).
The rectangular piece in a dark rich blue. It's a simplified fish - a raised impressed design on the bottom of the inside with raised rim surrounding it. Handmade and mouth blown. A huge 24.7cm x 11.9cm x 3.5cm tall with varying thicknesses of glass, freeform rectangular tactile rim and a flat polished base. Being solid glass it weighs 1.8kg.
Good condition, displays well. All good with no chips, but it does have fine scratches along the rims - see last pic as an example. Being handmade (blown glass) with a mould/press, it has a natural crease to the middle lower fish belly. Expect natural moulding undulations, ripples and lines from manufacture. The flat polished base has signs of its age.
Price includes P&P to the UK.
