A mid 1970s Ruby Red Whitefriars 'pot belly' vase, model no 9832. The design originated in about 1974 and was produced until the factory closed in 1980s. Lightly bark or ripple textured outer, as per other collectable Whitefriars ranges from the 1960s/1970s. Designed by Geoffrey Baxter. Made in England, blown moulded glass (blown into a mould), cased in clear glass. Soft rounded rim and typical Whitefriars pontil base.
This vase is just over 5" or 13cm tall. Its fat tummy is about 10cm wide. Would hold a dozen short stems.
Very good condition for age... Great rim and base with no chips or nibbles. No water staining. No sharp edges. Feels great and displays very well. See pics.
