A lovely 1950s 3" art glass paperweight by Whitefriars Glass, England.
Handmade/mouth blown glass in Sea Green - a pale grassy green. Design no 9308 (which dates from the early 1950s and was made all the way through to the 1970s) and this version is 1950s to early 1960s. It is the smaller sized 3" version. It features a series of carefully controlled internal bubbles (smaller near the top, getting bigger towards the base), and one larger middle internal bubble. It's very hard to show in photos.
Nice example with no obvious flaws on the uppers. On very close inspection you can see a couple of small scratches. Typical Whitefriars base with a couple of signs of age. A few stray and conjoined bubbles and manufacturing ripples in the glass from at the time, plus two small ash particles. The central bubble is low, pointy and off-centre. About 7.5cm wide x 6.5cm tall. Weighs 500g.
It's been really well looked after for 60-70 years!
