The lovely tapering 7.5" version of a five-lobed bullicante (controlled bubble) vase by Whitefriars, England. This one is the 9777 art glass vase in Kingfisher Blue. Designed by Geoffrey Baxter in the early Seventies, this is roughly mid 1970s.
Distinctive Kingfisher Blue (cyan, turquoise) inner, cased in clear glass outer. Handmade/mouth blown, the glass has rows of internal controlled bubbles over the colour. It has tapering lobed sides, with the inner colour and bubbles tapering out towards the chunkier base. There are five lobes or ribs. The base is flower-like, with five polished flat parts and the indented distinctive Whitefriars pontil.
Very good condition. Lobes are good and clean, no scuffs to the lowers as is common. One small scuff (tiny dots) near the top. No chips or nibbles - very usable and displayable. Very clean internally. A couple of manufacturing tooling marks from being made, and a spot of blue colour missing around the rim. Very good base. A lovely chunk of retro mid-70s art glass!
19cm tall x 5.5cm wide outer rim x 8.5cm widest (3cm wide inner rim). Weighs a heavy 1kg. Please check all photos.
P&P included to the UK.
