A Whitefriars art glass vase in a tall rectangular shape - an iconic 'Nailhead' #9683. 
The textured shape originated in 1960s, designed by Geoffrey Baxter, and this version in Aubergine dates from the 1972 to 1973. Aubergine was only around for a couple of years in the early 1970s. It's a random indented pattern of round nail heads on two sides, and smooth glass on the other two sides. This nailhead has the older original mould shape (a more irregular dotty pattern). Mouth blown into a mould. The striking plum/purple colour (Aubergine) is cased in clear glass. 
Great condition with no noticeable damage. Some slight moulding and tooling marks/lines as expected for a handmade item. Lovely displayable example.
