A Whitefriars art glass vase in a tall rectangular shape - an iconic 'Nailhead' #9683... The textured shape originated in 1960s, designed by Geoffrey Baxter, and this version in Aubergine dates from the 1972 to 1973. Aubergine was only around for a couple of years in the early 1970s.
It's a random indented pattern of round nail heads on two sides, and smooth glass on the other two sides. This nailhead has the older mould shape (a more irregular dotty pattern from before the pattern changed mid 1970s). The striking plum/purple colour (Aubergine) is cased in clear glass. The aubergine is deeper and thicker at the top with an area of clear casing to the bottom.
Very good condition with no chips or nibbles. Nice displayable example. Measures 17cm in height x 4.3cm x 4.5cm wide. Slightly tapers in towards the top on the blank sides - rim is 3.8cm x 4.5cm.
Prices includes P&P to the UK.
