A funky retro large bottle vase by Walther Glas, West Germany. Designed in 1972 by Heiner Düsterhaus, so circa 1970s vintage.
Düsterhaus was clearly influenced by Lars Hellsten's earlier vase for Skruf, Sweden, as well as the similar bottle vases by Nanny Still for Riihimaki. Two sides of the vase have a series of five symmetrical circles, indented, textured, with narrower sides and rectangular rim and base. Handmade pressed/moulded glass in a pale lilac mauve amethyst colour (paler and duskier than in the photos).
Has a Scandi/Czech retro look, in a typical 70s colouring. Would fit in well with a bunch of purple Empoli bottles and a retro or mid century inspired interior.
A good sized chunk of glass, 21cm tall x 12cm wide x 8cm wide. Excellent condition with natural moulding lines and tiny bubbles.
Free P&P to the UK.
