A fab little vintage West German plant pot holder. Dating from the 'fat lava' 1960s/1970s era, this is matte cream and brown fat lava textures dripping over glossy vibrant orange. It's very much in the shape, size, style and glaze of planters Carstens, Scheurich, Fohr, Marei and Strehla, but with no model number it's hard to determine the exact maker.  
The modernist shape is simple and straight sided, lightly flaring out. A smaller sized 9.5cm tall x 11cm wide at the rim. It would fit a flower pot up to 9cm tall - perfect for cacti and succulents. For indoor use only. The base clay is pale cream. It's simply stamped 'Germany' to the base.
Good condition, please see photos. There's one small baseline chip out of sight. Slight internal crazing with a hard to see hairline, but it remains watertight. Works and displays well... Mid Century Modern and retro in styling - perfect retro statement for your baby spider plants or succulents on your teak sideboard.
