A fab vintage West German plant pot holder. Dating from the 'fat lava' 1960s/1970s era, this is brown dripping over green, sandwiched with brown. The glazes flow over a dimpled dotty pattern - random small round dots. It's very much in the shape, size, style and glaze of planters Carstens, Scheurich Fohr, Marei and Strehla, but with no base markings it's hard to determine the exact maker.
The modernist shape is simple and straight sided, lightly flaring out. A medium sized 14.5cm tall x 15.5cm wide at the rim. It would fit a flower pot up to 12-14cm tall. For indoor use only. The base clay is pale cream.
Good condition, please see photos. There's one small rim chip. Good inside with no water damage or crazing. Works and displays well... Mid Century Modern and retro in styling - perfect statement for your spider plants on your teak sideboard.
