A super vintage Walter Bosse laying cat figurine*. These were designed as egg cups but are great today as a candle holder (small round ball ones or a tealight candle). Produced for Herta Baller, Austria, the design dates from the 1950s so this fellow dates from the 1950s onwards. It's unsigned but probably would have had a 'Made in Austria' sticker. It's blackened cast bronze with shiny bronze highlights, I believe.
Walter Bosse (and his partner Herta Baller) were famous for quirky stylised animals, known as the 'Black Golden Line'. This version is handcrafted in solid bronze, with a stylised Modernist look and black coating, specific areas were polished to reveal a golden sheen, highlighting certain features. 
Very good condition considering the age. 9.5cm long x 4.3cm wide x 3.8cm tall. He fits a tealight candle perfectly between his paws.
