A striking 1970s art glass vase, by Tamara Aladin for Riihimäen Lasi Oy / Riihimaki, Finland.
Designed in 1971 and produced from just 1972 to 1976, this is of an early 1970s vintage. Mouth blown in to a mould, it is design no 1520 and is known as a Tuulikki vase. It is a great vivid olive green colour and is cased in clear glass at the base. It has a cylindrical lower and upper quarter, a bulging hooped centre, separated by indented rings, with a delicately flared rim.
7" or 17.8cm x 10.5cm wide max at flared middle, 8cm wide rim. Cylinder base is 6.7cm wide.
Very good condition for age/era. Base shows minimal signs of its age; unusually the base is concave. I'd give it a 9/10 - lovely example and stunning on display!
