A fab, stylish and statement large art glass bowl/ashtray from the 1970s by Rudolf Jurnikl for Rudolfova Glassworks, Sklo Union. Czech/Bohemian and dating from around 1972 (so circa 1970s). From a series of spiky vertically ribbed 'Iceberg' designs, this is pattern no 13275/18 - a sculptural round ashtray bowl formed from pressed/moulded clear glass. Tactile vertical spiky ribs, rim angled inwards... modernist, brutalist, architectural and retro in style. The striking design was later re-named Hopkirk I believe.
This is in particularly good condition. Beautifully displayable and an impressive weighty example. Very little signs of use. Clear pressed glass with a very slight hint of aqua when on a white surface. Large and heavy - 18cm wide x 7.4cm high. Weighs 1.1kg.
