A striking 1960s art glass vase, by Aimo Okklin for Riihimäen Lasi Oy / Riihimaki, Finland.
Designed in 1963 and produced until 1968, this is a mid-1960s vintage vase. Mouth blown in to a mould, it is probably design no 1436 and is from the Stromboli range. It is a great vivid olive green colour and is cased in clear glass at the base. It has a lightly flaring out lower half, a bulging centre, with a gently tapering in upper. Softened rim.
7" or 18cm x 9.5cm wide max at flared middle, 7.4cm wide rim. Cylinder base is 5.7cm wide. It's smaller than many of the Tamara Aladin vases.
Very good condition for age/era. It has some enclosed bubbles. Base shows signs of its age. Great for a Riihimaki collection!
