A fabulous sculptural art glass horse's head figurine. Typical of work by V. Nason & Co., but may also be by Bucella Cristalli, from the Murano region of Italy. Circa 1970s to 1990s vintage.
A beautifully and skilfully made solid piece, the portrait has a blue colouring to the back fading to clear at the front (typical Nason technique). Lovely stylised shape, carefully hand made/mouth blown with the correct proportions/features. A quality piece in a mid-century style. It also maintains its original label to the base which reads 'Artistic Cristal Murano, made in Italy' - this label points it towards Bucella Cristalli, Murano. A sizeable 19.5 x 18 x 5cm, weighs 1.5kg. Excellent displayable condition with no real signs of age/wear. He has a flat polished base with a couple of sign of age, and the label.
The photos don't do him justice - you'll love him - he's a perfect piece for a mantelpiece or gift for a horsey or art glass fan.
