A pair of stunning Finnish vintage Sterling silver 925 cufflinks...
The simple design with inset cut out gold cross within a circle, was designed and made in Finland by Kupittaan Kulta / Elis Kauppi in the 1960s. It is stamped to the rod/stem with the UK importer's name NB - Nina Breddal (Nina Breddel is a UK importer and retailer of Scandinavian jewellery, post 1964). Also stamped with anvil logo for Kupittaan Kulta / Elis Kauppi and '925S' for Sterling 925 grade silver.
The flat rectangular shapes are 18 x 8mm. They are on a fixed straight rod which is also marked with 'Finland', and have a rounded angled toggle back, see pics. I don't know if the gold colour is gold plated or gold.
Mid Century Modernist and Minimalist in style, and typical of the 1960s Scandinavian era. Very good for the age and era. Just the right size - smart, simple, classy - and around 50 years old.
