A fabulous 1950s or 1960s grid-patterned vase by Fratelli Fanciullacci, Italy.
Pottery/ceramic with a matte grey textured base colour with random white glossy splatter lines, overlaid with a glossy black square pattern, and glossy turquoise blue dots within the squares. Signed on base '211 Italy'. See final photo - the abstract design was featured on p105 of Mark Hill's Alla Moda book. Each piece was hand-painted so it is unique, and any drips, wobbly bits and flaws are part of the artistic appeal.
Good for the age and era with no cracks. There are two tiny glaze flakes to the outer rim. There is also a chip to the baseline which does not show on display. Please see all photos of it on display from all angles.
A decent sized 19cm tall x 11cm widest at the middle, baluster shaped. Would hold about a dozen flower stems if used as a vase, but probably best for a collection. A classic bit of Italian retro kitsch!
Price includes P&P to the UK.
