A signed Dennis Townsend Iden Pottery unique art pottery bowl. Handmade, and circa 1960s to 1970s era. Typical relief decor of that era, much like Louis Hudson pieces, with an unusual contrasting deep blue glossy inner glaze.
It's an oval bowl or dish, 17xm long x 11cm deep x 7cm high, with undulating rim. The outers are natural tones, with a raw clay line of runic square symbols (four symbols repeated), and a cream slightly speckled glaze. Inside is a lush deep midnight blue. It's stamped with the Iden pottery logo to the base, which was used from 1965 onwards. And signed by Dennis Townsend 'DT' - it's harder to find pieces with his signature. The dish is just the right size for holding nibbles, keys, coins, etc (if used).
Excellent - all as originally manufactured. Hand signed to the base. Being handmade, it's unique with its deliberate glazes and finish. A lovely collectable example of retro British Studio Pottery - perfect for display or use.
Price includes P&P to the UK.
