A mid-century lidded cooking dish, by Egersund, Norway. The design is 'Palma', a hard to find graphic stripe design, and it's by Kåre Blokk Johansen. Dating from the 1960s. A striking earthenware/stoneware rectangular pot - an oversized butter dish or an oven baking dish or serving dish. It has its original brown glazed lid. The dish has the Palma print all round, black elipse/leaf shapes, with black diamonds and hand-painted stripes in brown. Base colour glaze is a neutral ivory. Perfect size for baking, serving, storing, etc. Ideal as a useful kitchen item or for decorative storage, would work as either. Stamped to base with the logo. Very good vintage condition with no crazing or cracks. As with many of these dishes it has a few tiny age spots to the cream glaze and one slight small graze along the rim. The screen print has left some tiny black dots in places. Please see all photos too. 21.5cm longest x 11cm tall with lid on x 14cm widest. Internally, the storage rectangle shape is about 16.5 x 12.5 x 6.5cm. Price includes P&P to the UK.
