A striking, colourful and fun mid century Desimone (Italy) small fish vase... Circa 1960-1970s by Giovanni De Simone for De Simone Maioliche D-Arte pottery, Sicily. The Desimone pieces were stylised, naive and primate - with influences from Picasso and the Mediterranean - and the subjects were usually colourful childlike drawings. This vase has a long fish design, typical of their stylised fish illustrations, painted around the circumference of the piece. The pottery pot is wheel thrown with a rougher clay glazed white; the design is painted in yellow, orange and red with green outlines. It's model number 64/1. Very good condition with no signs of age, perfect for a collector. A small 10cm tall x 6.5cm widest, 5.3cm rim. Signed to base, see photos. Price includes P&P to the UK.
