An unknown and very hard to find... A vintage sizeable glass vase or kitchen storage jar, hand made for Dartington, Devon, England. The design originated in the mid to late 1980s, but I've been unable to identify it. It looks like a Frank Thrower design, based on the mid 1980s Ripple and Shuggy or Julep shapes. I've been through the Dartington Frank Thrower model numbers up until his death in 1987, so this must be post 1987. The gold sticker style suggests it's pre 1987, but the etched 'D' on the base suggests a few years later. So this is a mystery piece with an unknown model number/name, probably a Thrower piece released for a short time after his death. Please let me know if you recognise it. It's round and large and wide and cylindrical, with internal vertical ripples creating an optic pattern. Towards the rim there's a narrower neck, going back out to a round polished rim. It's big - suitable for dozens and dozens of flowers if used as a bucket-style vase, or maybe it's a big ice bucket, or punch bowl, or a flour or biscuit storage jar missing a cork lid. Multi-purpose!! Bright clear crystal content glass (24% lead crystal). Polished rim. Handmade (mouth blown in to a mould). It's in very good clean collectable condition with just one tiny outer fleabite and some fine hard-to-see scratches. A large 16cm tall x 15.7cm wide and a heavy 1.4kg. Free P&P to the UK.
