A lovely vintage fish money box by Broadstairs Pottery, Kent. Circa 1970s or so - the pottery ran from 1968 to 1983. Broadstairs Pottery was David James White and his sister Mary Dening, with some items by Dianne Sanders. It's typical of the Broadstairs' clay, with natural colour tones and imprinted geometric shapes - but unusually this fishy is glazed and glossy. A handmade flat round pottery fish shaped money box, with biscuit-coloured sides with rows of incised shapes (following a fish bone pattern). It's all neutral-toned with some darker browns. Cut out round eyes and mouth, and oval top slot for money. Typical of the 70s Studio Pottery era. This is more ornamental and sculptural than for use. See photos. A decent sized 14cm tall x 16cm long x 8cm wide at his fattest point. Very good condition. The plastic bung is slightly worn but fully functional. Free P&P to the UK.
