A classic bit of mid-century design from the Arabia Ruska range... This pair of chunky and tactile retro pottery/stoneware egg cups have a funky drip catching collar around. The glazes on these vary enormously between tan and brown to black, these are a nice mid brown/black with brown highlights. The matching pair are both printed to the base with 'Arabia Wartsila Finland 4-73 '. '73' denoting 1973. (The stamps wash off in the dishwasher, so these have been well looked after and hand washed only).
The Ruska glaze was designed by Ulla Procopé in around 1960 and was produced until around the mid 1970s. The name Ruska roughly translates from the Finnish as 'Autumn'. Simple and beautifully designed, very tactile and smooth with a speckled matt and satin finish. The ceramic is a chunky stoneware.
Both excellent condition, no chips or cracks. These all have deliberate irregularities in the glaze, so they're all different. Roughly 7cm wide x 4cm tall. The inner hole is 4cm wide and 3cm deep.
Includes P&P to the UK.
