A 1970s-1980s Tapio Wirkkala designed Ultima Thule tealight candle holder. Handmade in Finland for iittala, a high quality Scandinavian brand.
Round with slightly tapering in straight 'icy' sides and a textured/bobbled base with three feet. Upper rim is scalloped and chunky. Apx 7.5cm wide by about 6.5cm tall. Inner hole is just over 4cm wide - designed to hold a single tealight candle.
Excellent condition, with faded original sticker. The rectangular sticker dates it to the late 1980s. Crystal content glass means it catches the light beautifully....  hard to photograph! Lovely bit of classic Finnish design.
