A stunning vintage art glass long oval bowl, designed by Jan Beranek for Skrdlovice Glassworks in 1964 (Czech/Bohemian). It's an organic freeform glass bowl with rod hot-worked exterior pulls and lobes. This is in topaz (a caramel brown inner layer) with a sommerso (floating layer inside) and cased in lime green. The design originated in 1964 and is model no 5954, a 'jardiniere' bowl. Chunky and tactile glass, mouth blown and artist handmade.
Very good vintage condition. It has some small and hard to see surface marks (such as the the last two photos). No sharp areas. Base is flat and polished with signs of its age. Has a couple of natural bubbles. I'd give it a very good displayable and collectable 8.5 out of 10.
A large statement 30.5cm x 9cm tall x 14cm wide. Weighs 1.7kg - a heavy chunky mid century bowl.
