A large striking red stripe pottery vase by Scheurich, West Germany. Dating from the 'fat lava' 1960s/1970s era, this has a single undulating red stripe, with paler brown surround/halo, and glossy brown uppers and lowers. I believe the glaze is called Fabiola. Flat and smooth glazes, with a simple straight-sided cylinder shape - typically Scheurich. Mid Century Modern and retro in styling - perfect statement for your teak sideboard.
The shape is 517-30... 30 denoting 30cm tall x 12.5cm wide. Stamped to the base.
Very good vintage condition with no chips or crazing. Some surface scratches and natural imperfections in the glaze from time of manufacture (tiny bubbles, dots, bumps, lighter glazes), see photos. But overall, in good displayable and useable condition. Big enough to be a floor vase, would hold 12+ tall sturdy stems.
Price includes P&P to the UK.
