A retro lava-textured pitcher vase by Scheurich Keramik, West Germany. This is the handled version of the 401 design, with the smart small round handle. Dating from the 'fat lava' 1960s/1970s era, this is a lovely coffee and cream colour - beige with brown speckles with very pale mint-green horizontal stripes. The surface is lightly textured and molten/bubbly yet smooth and tactile. Glossy speckled dark brown inside.
The shape is 401-28... 28 denoting 28.5cm tall. 10cm widest near the base. Inner rim is about 5cm. Fully stamped to base. Perfect size for a long tall statement bunch of flowers. Mid Century Modern and retro in styling - perfect for your sideboard and to add to a collection.
Very good condition with no noticeable chips or crazing. Some clumsier areas of glaze around the rim and handle and deliberate blobs of molten glaze. Natural wear/age to the baseline underneath.
Price includes P&P to the UK.
