A vintage handmade 1970s vase, by Rye Pottery, Sussex. This is stamped 'P' for Pam Goddard and dates from 1969-1978. Wheel thrown, the slightly flared simple vase has whiter clay and was glazed white with wax resist vertical 'tiger stripes'.
Rye Pottery was John Cole and Walter Cole. Walter (Wally) was responsible for creating the ceramics and running the pottery while John made the designs and created the patterns and decorations. As their work became increasingly popular, the Coles began to employ and train other staff - throwers David Sharp, Dennis Townsend, Raymond Everett, David Smeed and Jim Elliott who were later joined by Pam Goddard and June Woolley.
Pam was active at Rye Pottery from 1948 until 1984. She mostly worked on their Cottage Stripes designs.
Very good condition, a couple of tiny hard to see imperfections underneath. 13.5cm tall x 9cm widest at rim. Perfect for a Rye Pottery collection - an alternative striped design.
