A fabulous mid-century style hand-carved rosewood 'swan' or bird or duck. Danish inspired, it's probably British origin though it is unsigned (remnants of a paper sticker to base which looks to read 'Swan 5P'). Skilfully handmade from a rosewood - a distinctive streaky wood with defined grain. It's mounted on a teardrop shaped plinth. Circa 1960s-1990s vintage - modernist and minimalist in style.
He's a smaller sized 18.3cm tall x 6cm x 4.5cm deepest. Very good condition, no chips or splinters. Unsigned. The hardwood has a dark reddy black tone, with a natural lightly-oiled finish - smooth and tactile with a sheen. There's a screw underneath the plinth holding him in place; he can be turned slightly.
Perfect for a mid-century inspired interior. Great for a collector of teak or rosewood retro animals - photos don't do him justice!
