A stunning mid century modernist ice bucket by Bjørn Wiinblad (Denmark) for Rosenthal, Germany. It's from the Pirate range which features grey glass seals featuring nautical themes - this large blob seal is a galleon. Circa 1960s-1980s vintage.
This simple straight-sided flaring glass ice bucket has a thick solid lower part. Hand made glass ice bucket with a lead crystal content - can tell by the weight, high quality and bright clarity. The rod handle is unusual - it's a silver plated or chromed straight metal rod which has been fed through two holes (it unscrews). Etched to the base with the 'R' and crown logo for Rosenthal.
Very good condition with no noticeable marks or nibbles. Very good rim. The two drilled holes for the rod are a bit irregular, from at the time of manufacture. It's a nice sized 13.5cm tall x 13.2cm wide, weighs 1.2kg.
