A collectable vintage elephant money box/piggy bank, made in Germany for some of the German banks.
Design attributed to Luigi Colani, however I believe the design was designed by Bernd Diefenbach in 1972. They were mostly designed for the Dresdner Bank, Germany - this example doesn't have any branding to it. Later examples had Commerzbank written on them (the more recent name of the bank). This is vintage - circa 1970s. This iconic collectable elephant is also known as 'Drumbo'.
A deep yellow or 'sunflower' or 'egg yolk' yellow glossy formed plastic. Apx 6.5cm high x 9cm long - smaller sized hollow plastic. These mark easily, and crack, but this example is very good with a great shine and minimal surface marks.
Suitable for display in a kids' bedroom or as a collectable with other Drumbos, or just as a iconic minimalist ornament. These were designed for kids' savings and were sealed closed and had to be broken to empty - meaning this has never been used.
Includes P&P to the UK.
