A hard to find lidded Pyrex JAJ (James A Jobling) Hawthorn design 'Deep Oblong Casserole' dish. Design no 2162 or 541, commonly known as a space saver.

Azure Blue is a mauve tone of pale blue with a simple white Hawthorn print on both sides, on white Pyrex glass. Hawthorn dates from 1961 and was part of the Royal range, this shape was only made for a very short time.

Rectangular casserole dish, with original matching lid on, is 29 x 17 x 9.5cm. It holds 3.5 pints right to the brim. It is stamped with just the crown logo, dating it to about 1960 (must have been very late 1960 as the design supposedly started in 1961 - curious). Lid is stamped with '24B'. Lid inverses for neat stacking/space saving. Space saver and lid are in good condition. There are no chips, however there are some scratches above the print on both sides. There are some burnt in marks and discolouration, mostly along the top rim of the dish, under the handles, and along the baseline, see photos. With know-how this will clean up very well and just leave the few specks of missing print above each Hawthorn motif. The colour is good and bold and not worn. The lid is great - it has one inclusion, like a speck of ash within, and some swirls and slightly sharp edges from being pressed glass, from at the time of manufacture.

Includes P&P to the UK.
