A rare and extra large Dartington FT23 from 1967 in Kingfisher blue (a particularly green version of a Kingfisher Blue. The vibrant green is like a Whitefriars Aqua instead of a turquoise blue). If you're a Dartington collector, you'll want this rarity in your collection... The large rectangular block vase was an early design by Frank Thrower and made by Dartington, Devon, England. The design originated in 1967 and is FT23... being one of the first designs, production numbers would have been low; produced until 1970. It's square with rectangular sides, each side with a different raised 3D image - a daisy, a pom-pom flower, a six-pointed flower and a plain brick textured side. (The Kingfisher was only used from 1967 to 1973). Flat polished rim. Mouth blown and handmade and moulded so the glass has natural undulations and ripples. This vase has thick glass, making the colour particularly rich. It's in very good condition with no rim chips, one inner corner rim nibble that was probably from production. A large and heavy 24.5cm tall x 12.5cm x 12.5cm - it weighs a massive 2.3kg! It's a fabulous hard to find example, perfect for a Dartington collector. Free P&P to the UK.
