A lovely 1970s art glass Viking boat ornament. Made by Pukeberg, Sweden, it's chunky, solid and heavy, undoubtedly with a good crystal content. Bright clear sparkly moulded glass, 3D and icy on one side, smooth, flat and shiny on the other (could be displayed either way round). Modernist Scandinavian and traditional Norse in style. Ice-like, it's a Viking boat with a feature rounded base for rocking. The sculpture maintains its original 'Pukeberg Sweden' plastic sticker to the side. The design is by Uno Westerberg... other Viking ships online seem to be bigger and not with the rounded base; this one's more unusual.
Pukeberg is one of Sweden’s oldest glass works (1871) and is situated in Nybro, Smlland, and is a part of what is known as the Glasriket (Kingdom of glass) in Sweden.
8.5cm tall x 8.5cm wide x 2.5cm deep. Great condition! There is a moulding flaw with an extra blob of glass at the top of the ship and there are some very fine scratches on the shiny side.
