A super decorative ceramic plate/dish by Prima Pottery (PP), Folkestone, Kent, from 1970s or so.
Prima Pottery was started in 1967 by Marcus (Marc) Goldberger, and continued until the 1990s. This plate is handmade (wheel thrown) with red clay and has Marc's usual blue wash glaze to it. Unusually, to the centre is a round fritte (molten) glass infill. It has lovely natural crackling and fracture lines to the glass, like ice. It's in blues and greens and clear - and was probably made from broken bottles. Stamped with the logos to the base, as well as hand signed 'Marc'.
18cm wide. A lovely alternative and different art pottery piece by Marcus. In good condition with no chips - the glassy surface has natural fracture lines to the fritte.
Price includes P&P to the UK.
