A hard to find minimalist and modernist stainless steel Old Hall nutcracker, designed by Robert Welch... Designed by Robert Welch, Des. RCA., FSIA, for Old Hall (Sheffield, England). Initially designed in 1958, this was in production from 1961 to 1975 and is model number 44331. It's now highly prized for its relative rarity and undeniable sculptural beauty. The attractive wave-like internal contours of the hinged cracker can hold varying sizes of nuts securely while the two pointed crests break their shells. Fab stylish flat tapered design with a high quality sturdy feel. Satin finish 18/8 quality stainless steel. Stamped inside one end with the Old Hall logo and "Designed by R Welch, Old Hall England, 18/8 Stainless Steel". 15.5cm longest x 4.7cm widest when closed. Last photo shows it featured in the 'Robert Welch, Design: Craft and Industry' book. I bought these for my dad some years ago, they've now been passed back to me. They're in really good condition with not many scratches or signs of age - a fab collectable gift-able example of this iconic design. Includes P&P to the UK.
