A vintage sommerso faceted art glass block bud vase, most likely by Mandruzzato, Murano, Italy. Vintage 1960s/1970s mid-century iconic design - unsure of exact vintage of this example, probably 1960s to 1970s. It's a funky 5-sided pentagon shape with round inner. A striking small chunk of coloured vintage art glass... It's 11.8cm tall x 5cm widest, weighs 460g and solid glass with a small round inner well suitable for holding a small cluster of shorter stemmed flowers. It's a deep cobalt blue colour with a floating submerged green colour (sommerso), all cased in clear. Five-sided top rim and base (flat and polished) with five rectangular polished flat vertical sides. Handmade by a skilled glassblower 50+ years ago. Good condition. There's a few tiny signs of age if you look very closely (me just being picky)... a small 3mm line within the rim which catches the light, a fleabite to an outer lower corner and the inner rim is how the factory would have finished it off with a slightly rough inner edge - all shown. Flat polished base with no real signs of age. It looks very good for the age and displays well. Ideal gift for a collector, great for a mid-century mantelpiece. Free P&P to the UK.
