A beautiful handmade antelope portrait wall hanging, from the 1960s or 1970s. Typically Mid Century Modern style and typical of 1970s interior home decor. Beautifully hand carved from one piece, with smooth tactile neck and nicely detailed head, with tall fragile antlers - all as intended.
Teak (distinctive dense reddy hardwood), skilfully carved from one piece. I've not polished it up, so it has the natural sheen of vintage teak. Flat back with hole for a hanging hook. Probably African origin, in a Scandinavian style.
Very nice, presentable, displayable example - and well preserved for its age (40-50 years old). 25cm long x 8cm deep x 4cm wide.
