A fantastic art glass bowl by Aimo Okkolin for Riihimäen Lasi oy, Finland. It was in production from 1961-1968 and the design is 'Hellaa'. A fabulous and hard to find heavy glass dish with angled straight round sides, a central middle point, and flat top and base... like a UFO. The rim is flat and polished, as is the base. The base is hand signed with 'Aimo Okkolin Riihimäen Lasi Oy'. It's a lilac coloured neodymium glass - in theory the glass should change colour to a cold pale blue under an artificial flourescent light (but I don't have this light to check it). It's hand made/hand finished - a beautifully and skilfully made quality piece. Quite solid and heavy, weighs a hefty 1.5kg. The photos don't do it justice (taken in bad light). A decent sized 86mm high x 130mm wide at the centre point. Excellent example with one miniscule fleabite, shown (too small to feel). A few small marks within the inner well from being used as a bowl. Includes P&P to the UK. Perfect gift idea, and a collector would love this!
