A super mid-century sterling silver brooch which doubles up as a necklace pendant. It's by Afghan/Israeli sculptor Aharon Bezalel from the 1960s/1970s mid century.
The gold coloured wearable art sculpture is like abstract random molten drips. The (oval) shape is both Brutalist and Modernist and spiky organic in style. The photos don't do it justice - it's stunning. The silver has been gilded/plated with gold so has a subtle light gold appearance.
The pin fastening on the back is a roll-over mechanism. It's stamped '925' to the reverse, I can't see a maker's mark but it is researched and very likely to be by Aharon Bezalel from the 1960s.
Looks stunning on, just the right size to be a statement, yet classy and vintage. Can be worn any way up as a brooch, and stunning as a pendant (hanging loop to the reverse). 55mm x 37mm x 10mm deep. Weighs 12g. Very good condition. The pin has a slight kink to it but works well. Please see all pics.
