A lovely Mdina 'Ming' art glass vase or plant pot holder, from Malta...
The colouring is known as Sea and Sand (the colours were inspired by those perfect Mediterranean sandy beaches and turquoise coves), and it has the Ming stripe pattern - both attributed to Michael Harris who worked in Malta in the late 1960s to early 1970s. This is probably from the 1970s.
It's lightly cased teal (dark turquoise blue/green) with wide bands of sandy gold internally - the pattern is on the inside. From the outside it's a turquoise teal colour with clearer stripes. It's a chunky rounded straight-sided shape with a narrower round base. Being mouth blown/hand made, all these are different. A versatile item - useable as a (snack) bowl, vase and planter.
Apx 10.5cm tall x 13cm wide. Weighs 790g, a decent chunk. Unsigned.
Very good condition. There are some natural bubbles, undulations and formation lines in the glass from time of manufacture. It's very tactile and beautiful!
Price includes P&P.
