A stunning single stem bud vase, designed by Lino Sabattini (1925-1916) for Christofle, France in the 1950s. It's a classic piece of mid century design by the iconic Italian designer.
It is a Modernist simplified silver plated form, tapering in then out with the distinctive scooping pointy head. Highly reflective silver plated finish (sorry about my reflections, it's tricky to photograph). Stamped to the base with "Christofle, France" then an OC logo (for Orfevrerie Christofle) and "Coll Gallia" (Gallia Collection). I'm not sure when this particular vase dates from, but I believe it to be pre 1964, while he was working at Christofle.
It's the smaller 21cm version of the design. 4cm wide at the base.
Good vintage condition with some surface scratching/marks and signs of age on close inspection, see photos. The silver is very good and bright with no tarnishing. Very good on display.
Price includes P&P to the UK. Will come by Special Delivery.
