A lovely small round clay vase or pot by Joska, Denmark. Circa mid century 1950s era. Joska was based in Copenhagen and was active 1936 to 1959. The name Joska is a combination of the first letters of the three potters who founded the studio. These designs feature hand applied white glazed patterns over the raw terracotta clay. This has an abstract leaf-like design with spots of white globular glazes, precisely painted in vertical stems; glazed white internally. Signed to the base with 'Joska Denmark' and either 76, 78 or 7B. Good condition with no chips, some fine crazing inside. Wheel turned/thrown pottery, a small posy pot: 7cm tall x 8cm widest, 4.5cm rim. A few small marks to the matt terracotta. More an ornamental than useable piece. Includes P&P to the UK.
