A fabulous statement 1960s pewter choker necklace. Handmade by Jorgen Jensen, Denmark, and stamped on the reverse of one disc with 'Pewter Jorgen Jensen 57 Denmark' (the disc designs are model number 57). Jorgen Jenson (1895-1966) was son of Georg Jensen, renowned Danish silversmith.
The 14" long necklace has 16 of these 22mm diameter lightly curved discs with a brutalist sunburst linear design. The discs are joined with tubular metal 'beads' and it is fully articulated. It has an older design metal screw-close fastening. It's in a brutalist and modernist and Scandi retro style, all stylish and ahead of its time. 36cm long, not adjustable (please check this will fit, it is a choker).
Very good condition for age, presentable, wearable and a perfect vintage gift idea. The pewter is a silver grey metal with a shinier textured front. Fastening works well. Looks great on! A fab alternative brutalist/modernist Jorgen Jensen piece.
