A fabulous mid century candle holder by Jens Quistgaard for Dansk Designs, Denmark, circa 1960s/1970s.
It's design no 1739 I believe, a cast iron and brass 'Crown' - a geometric shape with two tiers of eight holders on simple vertical arms. The sculptural cast metal is a dark graphite black/grey colour and the piece has small brass washer details. The top holders can be unscrewed for cleaning and for polishing the brass. It's stamped with Jens Quistgaard's identification and 'Denmark' to the base (hard to see). The base has little integrated foot studs it stands on. This piece comes boxed in its original vintage 1960s box (very tatty but so nice to have).
It looks to be unused, no wax, no rust. Very good with a couple of tiny marks, see pics. 11cm wide x 11cm deep x 17.5cm tall. The candle holder holes are just 11mm wide so suited to those very slim and tall Scandinavian candles (or birthday candles), if used.
