A lovely sgraffito pitcher-shaped vase by Fratelli Fanciullacci, Italy. Mid century, 1950s to 1960s era. Pottery/ceramic with a glossy white and vivid orange (slightly speckled) glazes, incised with sgraffito lines forming bands top and bottom, and images depicting two stylised deer or antelopes with leaves. A tapered cylinder shape with angled rim and added angular handle. The glossy orange is a lush vivid orange colouring. Light terracotta coloured ceramic, hand signed on the base with '7437 Italy'. Similar vases are featured on p115 of Mark Hill's Alla Moda book.
Good condition. It has a number of natural manufacturing flaws to the glaze from back in the day - such as pittings, bubbles and dots and spots of missing glaze. I don't think any of the dots of missing glaze are chips. Please check all photos. No cracks, and nice and clean and displayable. 19.5cm tall x 8.7cm wide base - a mid size. Would hold over a dozen flower stems if used.
It's very striking, great colour and graphics - perfect for a mid-century or retro orange home.
Price includes P&P to the UK.
