A fabulous large Iittala Kaarna glass vase (or flower bowl) designed by Timo Sarpaneva in the early 1970s. Model no 2726.140 - the 140 denoting the width (I believe this is the larger of the two sizes available). Simplified minimalist mid century design with straight edges and bark textures on the lower half (Kaarna is 'bark' in English). Perfect for masses of shorter stemmed flowers, or a single floating statement flower head (as per the illustration on the box). Wide and stable, this is a good weighty chunk of 1970s multi-purpose art glass - weighs 1.2kg. Crystal content, quality and Scandinavian; from iittala and made in Finland. 1970s vintage. Perfect condition with no chips, signs of age or wear. Partial vintage red 'i' label. Vintage brown card box is all intact, and is very good for age and era. Signed to the base with 'TS'. Some natural bubbles - it would have been blown in to a mould. 12.3cm tall x 14cm diameter at the rim. Price includes P&P to the UK.
