A late 1960s design from Arabia, Finalnd - the Soraya dinnerware range. This is the Soraya huge round serving platter or plate. The shape was probably designed by Ulla Procopé (she worked for Arabia from 1948 to 1968), and the decor was by Gunvor Olin-Gronqvist. Ruija was in production for just a short time from around 1969 to 1972, making it harder to find. It is made of thick stoneware with a decoration of dark tan brown with brown black hand painted design and rim. The rich dark super-glossy decor has a Middle-Eastern feel.
33.5cm wide x about 3cm tall max. It's perfect for serving cold meat and cheese platters and larger party dishes, especially around Christmas time. Deep enough to hold everything in place.
Excellent condition with very little signs of use - just a few small knife marks. Stamped to the back with the logo. Circa late 1960s vintage.
