A set of four small coffee Hornsea Midas cups and saucers, designed in 1981 by John Clappison. A nice simple matte brown/black cylinder shape with 22 carat gold graphic design printed on, and contrasting glossy white inner glazes. Midas is based on the Lancaster Vitramic range and uses the Contrast shape. Ceramic/earthenware, and circa 1980s. 
Excellent condition with no chips, probably unused. Some natural glazing flaws to the white inners. The cups are 7.5cm x 6cm wide, saucers are 13cm wide and are plain, unusually. Stamped to bases of the cups with the Hornsea logo. Made in England. 
Designed for smaller stronger coffees. Roughly 150ml or half cup sized. Not for use in a microwave.
