A mid century Norwegian oval cooking or serving dish - from the 'A La Carte' series by Hermann Bongard with form probably by Ragnar Grimsrud, for Figgjo Flint, Norway. The pattern was created in 1960 and was produced until 1965, so of this early 60s era.
Off-white glazed 'flameware' ceramic, with a screen-printed design of stylised food (duck, bull, snail, fish and other stylised patterns). The design is typically MCM Scandinavian. Stamped underneath with: "FF Made in Norway, Figgjo Flameware. A La Carte. Scandinavian Design. Decor in underglaze quality. For gas or electricity. Vitrified body.". Also stamped with a shape/model number '12021'.
In very good vintage condition with no chips, see all photos. The dish is sized for serving longer veggies like asparagus: 29cm long x 13.5cm wide x 5cm deep. Transfer print is good. Minimal signs of use with no discolouring. A hard to find and highly collectable design in an unusual shape. More for display and for a collection than for practical use.
Price includes P&P to the UK.
