A hard to find art glass vase, designed by Frank Thrower and made by Dartington, Devon, England. The design originated in 1968 and is FT72.
It's squared with a raised Greek Key pattern to each side, and a smooth round flared rim. It's in the rare Flame red colouring - designed by Eskil Vihelmsson by adding selenium. The red was more expensive than other colours and was only used from 1968 to 1970 - dating this quite precisely to the late 1960s. This is the squat version of the Greek Key vases, at 3.5" tall.
It's in excellent condition. 9cm tall x 8.5cm x 8.5cm. The rounded rim is around 8.3cm wide. Mouth blown and handmade so the glass has natural undulations, ripples, or lumps and bumps. The rare colour is a rich red with a hint of orange towards the lower corners.
It's a really nice example which is ideal as a collector's piece and for display.
