A super Colin Melbourne 'Petra' design ceramic vase. Model no 101 by Royal Norfolk, Staffordshire, England. The design originated in 1958 and ran into the 1960s - so of this mid century vintage. Colin worked for many of the Staffordshire potteries such as Beswick, Trentham, Midwinter - a well known mid century ceramics designer.
The off-white glazed uppers are smooth with beige and black abstract grass print, and the lower third is contrasting bark textured and solid matt brown. Quite striking - and a great mid century design.
22cm tall x 8cm rim x 9.5cm widest. Very good for age with no chips or crazing. Internally it has a visible water mark, see pics.
